Discover Rabos, the Heart of Empordà
Rabós, a small medieval town nestled in the Alt-Empordà of Catalunya, is a hidden paradise within the Albera Natural Park. Surrounded by the rugged Costa Brava coastline and the majestic Pyrenees, this region has a rich winemaking history, with many local producers and ancient cooperatives. One such cooperative, the Cooperativa Sant Julià, now known as Fruita Analógica, was established in the 1960s and boasts over 30 historic cement tanks. We plan to revive them, filling a few with our natural wines.
After years of exploring the wine world, we returned to the vineyards to start farming for Vinyes Tortuga. Driven by a deep passion for vine care. Pruning, composting and learning every detail of the grapevine cycle. We were drawn to the Alt-Empordà. This under-the-radar wine region, rich in history and potential, offered endless possibilities, and we couldn’t resist.
Eventually, we found the old bodega that would become our home for making the wines that tell our story.
The Journey to acquiring the Bodega
After a year of working the fields in the Empordà, we discovered a 9.5-hectare plot for sale near Rabós, complete with a small house in the middle. Through crowdfunding, we were able to purchase it and, since 2018, we are the proud owners. From day one, we found a space to make our wines in the old cooperative building of Rabós, which we rented from the previous owner, Espelt. This is where Vinyes Tortuga wines were born.
The old building felt right, but the rental contract was temporary, and the owner was seeking a buyer. The empty tanks reminded us of the opportunity to make more wine, as the market was growing, and at a more affordable price.
We shared our vision with our friend Bart Obertop, a hospitality entrepreneur and former owner of Brouwerij 't IJ. After visiting the cooperative, tasting our wines, and seeing the building's potential, he embraced the idea of producing natural wines fo and beyond. And thus, our second brand, Fruita Analógica, was born!
The new generation
Our intention for the building is to revive it, creating a lively production floor where we craft vibrant natural wines. Alongside this, we realized our vision to create the restaurant Analogic, a space where food and wine come together in harmony.
We also plan to eventually offer a place to stay, transforming the space into a destination. Rabós, with its rich medieval history and endless trekking opportunities, will soon be known for its locally grown food, our natural wines, and a welcoming atmosphere that invites everyone to experience its beauty.
Bodega
We let nature lead: hand-harvesting, wild yeast fermentation, and no additives or filtration. Each vintage transforms on its own, capturing Empordà’s energy.
Vines
Our vines thrive in Empordà’s rugged hills, farmed biodynamically in living soils. With cover crops, grazing sheep and no chemicals, they yield pure, untamed grapes.
Wines
Our wines are alive, pure expressions of Empordà, made without additives and filtration. Each bottle tells a story of sun, soil and time, capturing the wild energy of Empordà.
